This fundraiser is for my Dad, Bob Rohaley. Thursday August 20 was a normal day for Bob. Doing everything he loved including running, taking care of the property and cooking for my mom, his wife, Louise. After dinner like always he was taking the leftovers down stairs. My Mom and I were chatting on the phone at this time talking about the day. She heard the fall and quickly ran to the stairway finding my Dad unconscious on the cement floor in their basement. He had missed a step or tripped causing him to fall forward into a brick post and then to the floor. My Mom immediately called 911.
After the emergency trucks arrived they cared for my Dad and he was soon air lifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
That first night he was in ICU in critical but stable condition suffering from a traumatic brain injury. He remained in ICU for 2 weeks and he is now in a Rehab Facility recovering.
He has needed 24 hour supervision and will continue to need this. Mom has had to pay for that completely out of pocket.
He is going through cognitive rehab now and has a lot of work ahead to overcome this.
My parents were not prepared for the cost of medical bills like this and the continued care my Dad needs. Bob has a lot of people praying for him and we are hoping for a full recovery from all of this.
For anyone who knows Bob he was a go to for advise and encouragement. A close family member shared with me something he had once said to her,
Sometimes you have a set back but it's setting you up for a great come back!
All donations will be used to pay the bills associated with this accident. If you have the means to spare any amount will help.
Many thanks and as my Dad says, It's all about Love.
