Supporting Our Sweet Friend and Mentor, Lisa Stowe.

Last week, our dear friend and mentor suffered a major heart attack. She was first taken to Greenville and then transferred to Duke, where she is currently receiving specialized care. She is now on a device that is helping her heart do the work it needs to do, and we are taking things day by day as doctors focus on strengthening her heart. There is a possibility that a permanent device may be needed, but for now, we are remaining hopeful and trusting the process.

She will need to stay at Duke for at least the next 3–4 weeks, possibly longer. During this time, she is undergoing physical therapy and constant monitoring. Once she is able to return home, she will still need to travel back to Duke once a month for ongoing care and follow-up.

The medical journey alone is overwhelming, but the added costs of travel, extended stays, and daily expenses quickly add up. Lisa's children, Michael and Kelly, will be splitting time traveling back and forth to Duke to be with her, support her through recovery, and help however they can.
