Hello everyone,
Our names are Anna and Szofia, and we are the daughters of Boglarka Gracer. We are writing with heavy hearts as our mom is currently in the CVICU fighting for her life.

On January 2, 2026, she suffered a serious fall that injured her left knee, leaving her unable to straighten her leg, walk normally, work, or perform basic daily tasks. She went to the ER on January 3, where doctors recommended an MRI. Unfortunately, without insurance and unable to afford the cost out of pocket, she had no choice but to decline the scan and attempt to heal naturally, forcing her to miss two weeks of work.
Our mom has been a waitress for over 15 years, a job that requires long hours on her feet. Despite still being in pain, she returned to work on January 17 to recover lost income.

Then, on January 23, she woke up with no feeling in her right leg from her calf down to her toes and could not walk or move it. She called 911 and was rushed to Northwest Hospital. Nurses immediately noticed discoloration and a temperature difference between her legs. After blood work, an MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, and chest X-ray, doctors discovered multiple blood clots — one in each lung, three in her right leg, and one in her left leg. She was rushed into emergency surgery that lasted four hours. Surgeons made four incisions — at her groin, both sides of her calf, and behind her knee to remove the clots. Because her leg had gone without oxygen for eight hours, they had to leave two wounds open to prevent further damage.

As you can imagine, this has placed an overwhelming emotional and financial strain on our family. Because our mom does not have health insurance, every test, scan, surgery, specialist, and day in the ICU is being billed out of pocket. The medical expenses are quickly adding up to an amount far beyond what we can manage on our own. On top of that, she is unable to work and has lost her only source of income while she focuses on healing. Our mom has always been the kind of person who shows up for everyone else first — working long hours, supporting her family, and never asking for help. Now, we are hoping to surround her with the same care and support she has always given so freely to others.
If you are able, any contribution, no matter the size, would help ease the burden of medical bills, recovery costs, and everyday living expenses during this incredibly difficult time. And if you’re unable to give, sharing her story or keeping her in your thoughts and prayers means just as much to our family.

We are deeply grateful for any support, kindness, or encouragement. Thank you for standing with us and for keeping our mom in your hearts as she fights to recover.
