Medical and Post-op Recovery Fund
Hi, all!
I was hesitant to post this at first, but I need help. My name is Ryan and I live in Denver, CO. In July, the brakes on my motorized longboard malfunctioned while I was riding it, sending me into the air and then crashing into the pavement in the middle of the road. I fractured my elbow and suffered from road-rash so bad it has prevented me from walking. Due to this, I needed surgery. And, of course, I didn't have insurance. Luckily, I qualified for Medicaid and they *should* be retroactively covering my medical bills. They covered my $32,000 surgery, but because I went to a private hospital ER for the initial crash, they are unsure if everything will be covered. I applied for financial assistance through the hospital, but even then, the billing department said that it doesn't cover everything.
Even if Medicaid saves my butt, I am currently unemployed and I was relying heavily on art commissions to pay my bills (car payment, car insurance, rent in Denver, food, etc.). But since my accident, the surgery, and starting my recovery, I have been put a month behind on commissions and won't have any new work lined up for next's months bills too. This stress, on top of the pain, has been making it very difficult to sleep and focus on my recovery.
So this is why I'm here. I'm hoping you all can help me! I've set my goal at this amount that I estimated would cover my normal bills and maybe any leftover medical bills from the hospital. If Medicaid does cover everything (the billing department told me I wouldn't know for like another month), I will put the leftover funds towards safety gear for my longboard. If there's still additional funds, I want to donate the rest to charity to support our protestors and causes for ending child trafficking (TBD, open to suggestions).
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can provide!
