Medical and Other Expenses for Ryan Bang

With the permission of Ryan Bang and Angela Beckman, I have posted this GoFundMe me! Ryan and Angela are amazing friends and together have three amazing children! Ryan and Angela have fallen in some very hard times and for this reason, I am asking for your help! I have summarized below the family situation since the unexpected onset of Ryan's medical issues, the current condition of Angela's hip condition and a brief snapshot of the difficult times they have faced along the way. Please donate anything you can to help them through this. I'm also requesting physical assistance for them as well including providing boxes, helping with a garage sale to make additional funds the family needs, helping pack and also helping move. I will be setting up a sign up form for that as well once I get a bit more organized with dates, times etc at which time I will reach out via text, email, FB and post a link of that sign-up sheet.

On November 18th Ryan was taken to Fremont ER with severe abdominal pain and swelling. A
CT scan was performed, and they discovered 1 bowel obstruction. They immediately placed an NG tube to begin removing abdominal fluid and rushed him by ambulance to UNMC. During this time Ryan remained on the NG tube, struggling with abdominal swelling, anemia, and his kidneys were shutting down. After spending his 45th birthday and 7 days at UNMC, they released him on November 24 stating the blockage was gone. The night of November 24 Ryan ate Thanksgiving meal with his family and immediately began to have abdominal pain and swelling. He fought the pain for 4 days.

On November 28th Ryan arrived back to UNMC ER with severe abdominal pain and swelling. A CT scan was performed showing the bowel obstruction was still there. Ryan’s labs showed he was severely anemic, his kidneys were beginning to fail, and his liver was in distress. This did a blood transfusion and determined Ryan needed a risky surgery with a 30-90% risk of mortality.

On November 29th they did a 6-hour exploratory abdominal surgery where they found 3 bowel obstructions.

Post-surgery Ryan had several complications from anemia, abdominal infection, kidney issues, severe pain, and abdominal swelling. By day 6 his IV’s kept infiltrating into his arms, further increasing swelling. Due to this a PICC line was placed, and he was put on IV nutrients and liquids, no foods or drinks. Ryan’s bowels and digestive system still wouldn’t wake up and function properly.

By day 13 they began to hear movement in his bowels and digestive system, however, the
infection in his abdomen began to get worse and the swelling in abdomen increased. They
placed him on high dose antibiotics which began to shut down his kidneys, As the abdominal swelling continued Ryan’s incision came apart. This caused fluid and blood to leak profusely from his abdomen. His surgeon determined the muscles that had been stitched together came apart and he would need a 2nd surgery.
December 10 Ryan had a 2nd surgery, which went well. Post 2nd surgery they stopped his IV fluids and nutrients to help decrease the number of fluids that are causing the swelling and leaking from his incision. He continued to fight the infection in his abdomen with high dose antibiotics, while monitoring his kidneys. He continued to fight his anemia and stopped IV diuretics, placing him on oral diuretics. His bowels and digestive system continued to wake up and so far, he is tolerating a low sodium diet. Ryan still has no release date as they want to ensure his infection is under control, the leakage stops, and his blood levels and labs for all his organs and anemia are good. The doctors said even when Ryan gets released, he will have to be monitored closely and have blood labs run every few days.

Not only are Ryan and Angie facing this, but Angie has 2 upcoming surgeries, and they are
moving out into a new home and have to be moved by December 29th. On December 14 Angie will be having an endoscopy as she has also been having abdominal issues, post endoscopy they will schedule her surgery to repair the hiatal hernia and any other issues they find. Then on January 19th Angie will be having hip surgery to repair a tear in her hip and to place her hip bone back into place. Post-surgery she will be on crutches and in recovery for at least 8 weeks.

In October 2021 she suffered multiple injuries to her right leg. The most major was a complete hamstring tear. Since then, she has been unable to work due to recovering, battling nerve damage, and the pain from the injury to her hip.

In early November prior to Ryan’s ER health situation, Ryan and Angie had found a home for their family in Fremont. They were so excited and put in their notice to move 2 days prior to Ryan entering the hospital. Due to this they have to be moved out by December 29th. Even if Ryan were to get out, he is unable to lift for 8-10 weeks and with Angie’s leg injury she is limited in what she can do. They are in desperate need of assistance with finding boxes, packing, and help moving their belongings to their new home.
With the unknowns of Ryan’s health and recover needs, Angie's upcoming medical procedures and surgeries, as well as the families upcoming move within the next 18 days they are in need
of some help. This situation impacted their family physically, emotionally, and financially. Ryan and Angie are overwhelmed and know they can’t do this alone. They appreciate from the bottom of their hearts all of the Prayers and support that have been shown to them, their kids, and family.
