****Please see my updates for my diagnosis and treatment plan going forward - I also have an Amazon list (but no need to purchase from Amazon, anywhere is fine, message me for my address if you do not support Amazon, it was just convenient for the list feature).
Hello! Unfortunately I started getting sick at the beginning of February this year - what felt like a bad cold. I was testing negative for the regular stuff and typical meds didn’t seem to help. By March I was diagnosed with asthma and I thought that was the way of things. Here we are 7 months later - 5 hospital visits, two stints off work, all the tests, and so many dead ends later. My most recent ER visit in August proved concerning as my ability to breathe had taken a significant dive and I was basically told there wasn’t much they could do for me except make my status for seeing specialists urgent.
I originally had appointments with those specialists in November and December, but with my new status I was seen the following week. I was written off work - on bed rest, with a returning to work date TBD.
I have applied for what benefits I can, but am anticipating a gap for monthly bills eventually and I have medical bills, of course. My insurance is stellar, but I have so many more tests, rounds of imaging, and possibly a surgery. I’m only doing this GoFundMe for existing medical bills ($650) and one months rent.
I don’t have a diagnosis yet, but the category I have found myself in as far as what the possibilities are is not great. At very least - with the best and easiest diagnosis possible I will still need a more expensive out of pocket ongoing treatment. Right now the worst case scenarios are two types of leukemia and a liver-based issue. The best case scenarios are eosinophilic asthma and a type of pulmonary sarcoidosis. All having to do with eosinophils.
Right now my doctors are being aggressive with treatment to get my eosinophil response down, and testing to find out the root cause.
I have done a medical withdrawal from grad school as well. Everything is on pause.
The first stint off work and repairing a hit and run while my car was parked at home depleted my savings. I was just getting back on my feet…that’s how it goes sometimes!
This is hard, humbling, and overwhelming. I know I’m
not the worst case or the only thing going by in in the world right now, by any means, but this will give me a boost if you can help even a little.
