Medical and Living Expenses for Patrick Cunning
Donation protected
On April 1st, 2021 Patrick suffered serious injury as a result of an incident he held no control over. The incident damaged his left upper thigh resulting in a shattered femur. Fortunately, his surgeon was able to repair much of the fractured bone with a titanium rod and multiple screws. But that is just the beginning. Pat will now face a lengthy and arduous recovery process. He is already one week into his initial hospital stay and has just begun an additional two weeks at an inpatient rehabilitation facility for more intense and focused physical therapy. It is key to successful rehabilitation that he participate in a rigorous, strict and unfortunately painful regimen. A secondary benefit of the stay in this facility is it will afford the opportunity for his surgeons to oversee and determine when he is medically safe to travel. Pat will be returning to his home state to begin a lengthy process of long term in-home physical therapy. He is disappointed to learn this is not able to happen here in his adopted home that he loves so much but the process will require a single level home and returning to Jersey is the fastest option for him to begin this step. Pat will be accompanied by Shannon for this temporary relocation. He will require constant care and aid during his in-home recovery. Eventually, we all look forward to Pat's recovery from this horrific incident and his return to Raleigh and normal activities. As you can imagine the financial expenses involved with the proper care to return to his quality of life are daunting. Significant amounts will not be covered by any type of insurance. Not to mention his inability to work for this recovery period. He has had so many loved ones reach out and ask what they could possibly do to help in any way. Several friends and family members have suggested a GoFundMe for anyone who felt moved to help in this way. Also included will be information to Patrick's Cashapp and Venmo accounts for anyone who may prefer to send any donation directly. Of course for those unable to donate monetarily in these difficult financial times, well wishes and prayers for his speedy and uncomplicated recovery are just as appreciated. Any additional forthcoming information on community efforts to aid will be added but it seemed a good idea to at least get the ball rolling. It is a terrible situation that no one wants to find themselves in. It can’t be expressed how much Pat appreciates every call, text, social media post and thought of concern from this community he loves and has come to thrive in. Everybody please keep cheering him on and he will keep doing the hard work to return and see you all as quickly as possible.
