Hi my name is Jessica. Jerry is my sister and Jim is my brother in law.

We are asking for help for any out of pocket expenses....this means any medical out of pocket pay, food and lodging for my sister until we have answers on when Jim can come home....

Below I will copy my sisters words on what has happened since they arrived in Vegas.

Update: When Jessica created this she originally put goal at $5,000 however this was before realizing the length of time this was going to be for, due to this new information we have had to increase to $20,000.

"Today was our first day in Vegas and it didn’t go as planned. My hubby James Cunningham had a major stroke and had to be taken by ambulance to sunrise hospital here in Vegas. There was a ton of plaque in his neck that’s clotting and affecting his brain. He has no movement on his left side. His heart has also suddenly developed afib: heart is out of rythem. He’s in surgery now and I’m back at the hotel waiting for some good news. I only had his phone and it was dead so I had to come back so I could have it to communicate with his surgeon and nurses. There is no guarantee he will ever be the same but we are hopeful and I REALLY need everyone to pray for us both. He’s looking at months of therapy and more medical bills that we frankly can’t afford since he won’t be able to work for awhile. FYI he’s mad at me cause I made the choice to call an ambulance but it was a group decision and I did what’s best for him.

Update: surgeon just called. Jim is out of surgery and things went well. Had to have three stints put in instead of one and there is permanent brain damage. I am extremely grateful he is alive but unsure at this point how long we will both have to stay in Vegas. I only have hotel reservations until Saturday and was supposed to fly out then. Keep those prayers up! I wanna go home with him Saturday!

Update: Jim is in an icu neurology unit. He’s still in pain, very groggy and being argumentative. From what I was told it could cost up to $30,0000 for transport back to Iowa and that is out of pocket. I can’t afford that but I can’t afford to stay out here for 12 weeks or more either. I just don’t know what to do. I’m supposed to fly home Saturday. Leaving him by himself in this state feels inhuman.I’m looking at options but any ideas would be nice."
