Rising Funeral Expenses For My Beloved Son Joshua

I am writing today as a concerned resident of Scarborough, Toronto, with a deep commitment to the safety and well-being of our community. My name is Shondelle Reis, and my family has called Scarborough home for over two decades. We have strived to live a peaceful and humble life, contributing positively to the neighbourhood we cherish.

However, in recent years, the surge in violence within our community has left us all shaken and anxious. On September 24th, 2023, tragedy struck my family when my youngest son, Joshua, was shot just steps away from the safety of his own home. Joshua, at the age of 21, now fights for his life in critical condition. Our family, along with friends and loved ones, are unified in prayer and hoping for a miracle.

Joshua is a beacon of kindness and humility, always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need. He has never been associated with drugs or illicit activities. His targeting was a senseless act of violence that has left our family devastated and grappling for answers.

No parent should have to endure this heart-wrenching situation, and no individual should fear for their safety within their own community. The crisis of gun violence is robbing us of our children, and our future.

I implore you to join me in a collective effort to address and eliminate gun violence in Scarborough. Together, we can forge a safer environment for all residents, ensuring that tragedies like the one my family is enduring do not befall others.
