My 14-year-old niece has been in the hospital in St. Louis for almost a week, with the expectation that she will be there at least until next Monday. She had been having headaches and vision loss, so she was taken to the ER. It was found that her optic nerves were swollen and she had fluid on her brain. She has been seen by a team of pediatric neurologists, optometrists, and ophthalmologists. In the past week, they have performed a slew of tests and diagnostic procedures, including a spinal tap and brain catheterization. She is now scheduled to have a stent put in an artery in her brain on Friday. This has been very scary and stressful for her and our family. Her mother, my sister, Amy Combs, has been by her side the whole time, causing her to miss work, as the hospital is 2 hours from their home. Amy did not have any paid time off work. These funds will be used for Amy to pay medical bills and household bills as this has been hard on her financially. Anything you can give is appreciated.
