Katie Barr’s Memorial Expenses

Hello,

My name is Devon Whitfill and I am here to help raise funds for my cousin Katie Barr’s memorial service expenses. All money raised will be given to Katie’s family to help cover these expenses.

Tragically early Sunday morning, my cousins were in a collision with a drunk driver on Interstate 81 in Maryland. The driver fled the scene leaving behind my cousins Katie, Brittany, and another passenger in the second vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was found by Maryland state police and is currently in custody. Katie and the other passenger were both taken in for critical care as they both suffered critical life threatening injuries. Katie fought strong through her first surgery and awaited a second surgery for the numerous injuries. Unfortunately, as of sometime last night, Katie was unable to keep up her fight and has passed on.

Katie was a stubborn, strong, and beautiful 20 year old girl just shy of her 21st birthday. Katie could walk in and light up any room with her smile, goofy attitude, and charm. She shared her dreams of a career as an EMT and her passions for helping others. She was cared for and loved by everyone that crossed her path.

She was like a little sister to me as Katie, Brittany, and I spent much of our youth playing dress up, putting on concerts, and having sleepovers together.

My heart is with anyone who was ever touched by Katie. She will be deeply missed by her extensive family, friends, and community.

I just know Katie and her Mom are dancing together somewhere.
