About a week ago, Austin and Rachel Knight experienced every parent’s worst nightmare. Five of their six children were riding in a golf cart, driven by a trusted teenage friend, after a fun afternoon at the pool. What began as a joyful moment turned into a terrifying accident when a sharp turn on loose gravel caused the cart to spin out and flip completely onto its roof.
Their 13-year-old daughter Piper was pinned underneath. In a moment of incredible courage, 12-year-old Sky used every ounce of strength and adrenaline to lift the cart off his sister and run for help. All five children sustained serious injuries in the crash.
Here’s what the family is facing:
• Levi (13) – Broken clavicle and a major head injury requiring 13 staples. He faces a long road of recovery over the next month.
• Piper (13) – Severe leg wounds and stitches, requiring her to be on crutches for the coming weeks.
• Sky (12) – Covered in road rash, with a banged-up and injured elbow. He also carried the weight of being the first responder for his siblings.
• Elora (9) – Suffered battery acid burns to her face and various parts of her body, along with a painful sprained finger.
• Rogue (8) – Sustained a serious concussion and three deep puncture wounds to his temple, which required stitches.
All of the children were taken to the emergency room or burn unit for evaluation and treatment. By the grace of God, all injuries appear to be recoverable. But as any parent knows, the healing doesn’t stop at the physical—it also includes the emotional trauma they are all processing.
Adding to the burden is the fact that Austin and Rachel recently relocated to Texas from out of state and have not yet secured insurance. That means all of these medical expenses—emergency care, imaging, medications, follow-up visits—are being paid for out of pocket.
Now, they need our help.
The Knight family has always shown up for others in times of need. Now it’s our turn to surround them with love and support. Your donation—no matter how big or small—will help cover medical costs and provide some peace of mind as they focus on their children’s recovery.
Let’s show the Knight family they are not alone. It takes a village—and we are theirs.
