Medical Aid for Carlos Trevino

**Update #6**

Hello everyone, I have some good news about Carlos from his wife!

He has been making great progress the last few days. He is awake now and was moved to the step down intermediate care unit. They removed the ventilator and has been breathing on his own the past 2 days. He has also starting eating little by little. He is receiving both physical and neurological therapy. He is responding well and there are no further complications. We are praying that he continues to recover completely. She is working on getting him transferred to a hospital in the Austin area.

If you know of any exceptional facilities for neurological and physical recovery please let me know and I will get your recommendations to his family.

Original Post

Carlos Trevino is a valued member of the IT team at Samsung Austin R&D Center (SARC).  On Sunday, July 8th he was involved in a car accident that has left him seriously injured and in need of serious medical attention.

This campaign is to raise money to cover his medical bills and whatever recovery expenses may come after.  It was started by his colleagues at SARC because we would like to help in any way possible.  All of the money raised will be given to him and his family.

We will post more details about his condition after getting his family's approval.  We do not want to share more information than they are comfortable with.

**UPDATE #1**

I have been asked to remove the details about Carlos and his family from this campaign.  I will provide as much detail as I can.  There is no update on his condition.

**UPDATE #2**

Update from his family:

Carlos is still in critical condition so your prayers need to continue.  As of right now, he has not woken up and that is the biggest concern.  His wife went to see him and he tried to open his eyes and squeezed her hand which is the best response they have seen from him.

Seeing the help from friends and colleagues has warmed their heart tremendously.  Thank you all so much for donating money to this campaign!

I am increasing the goal from 10K to 50K after seeing the response from sharing this with the IT team.  We have received approval to share this with the whole company.

**UPDATE #3**

I was given permission from Carlos' family to share more details about his condition.

Carlos, his wife (who is pregnant with their child), and her parents were involved in a serious car accident while returning from a family event in Mexico.  They were hit by someone else's car and that caused the car they were in to rollover.   Carlos and his Mother in law were severely injured in the crash and were taken to a hospital in Monterrey, Mexico.   The doctors were forced to amputate one of his legs due to injuries from the accident and he is currently unresponsive and in a coma.  His Mother in law is also in critical condition with fractures throughout her whole body.  Carlos' wife and her father thankfully were relatively unharmed.

The money we are raising will be used to pay for medical bills and the inevitable physical therapy he will have to go through.  His family and friends cannot thank you enough for all the support we are getting.  I am sure Carlos would be happy to know how many people are supporting him through this tragic timeline.

Please share this campaign on any social media if you have not already.  Any donation will help out his family. Thank you.

**UPDATE #4**

First of all I would just like to say you are all amazing and thank you so much for donating. I did not expect to be able to raise this much money and Carlos' family is eternally grateful for all of the support.

I got the family's blessing to share this update with all of you:
Carlos had a CT scan this morning and the doctors noticed less inflammation in the brain. The inflammation of his organs is also reducing. He will be in observation this weekend and on Monday they will determine if his breathing tube can be removed. If not, they will have to consider alternative actions. They ask for continued prayers.

**UPDATE #5**

I spoke to Carlos' wife, Deisy, and she is so grateful for all of the donations and support. She wanted me to tell everyone thank you from her whole family (thank you!). The donations are such a blessing as they will both be unable to work for quite some time. Here is the update about what happened on Monday:

Carlos has been making good progress as the days go by. On Monday he had a tracheotomy and a gastrostomy procedure to temporarily support him until he fully gains consciousness. Both procedures went well with no complications. Please continue to keep Carlos in your prayers for a quick recovery.
