Alexa Curtis and I, Steve Bisson, started this project together in June 2016. The goal? To go to middle and high schools across the country to discuss, educate, and do something that has not been done: discuss
the impact of social media on our teen's health, mental and physical, as well as ways to address it.
We examine a wide variety of subjects, including anxiety, body image, sexting, cutting, suicide, FOMO, depression, cyberbullying to name a few. We tailor the program to the school we are going to visit by sending a survey in advance to the school staff and students. This helps us find the right talking points for our presentations, which typically last 1 hour. We have been to three states and have had a few requests from other states.
Our goal with this money is three fold:
1: We want to make this project a legit non-profit but for that, we must fill out all the paperwork and requirements. We are working with a company that will do it for us for $1,900 and we would like to get that paperwork done by the end of March.
2: We have been asked to present in San Francisco at Summit High School. A trip out to San Francisco will cost $1,000.
3-We have also been asked to present in Austin at RHHS. That will cost us $1,000.
We want to spread this important message but definitely need your help. We are willing to offer some thank you gifts for contributions.
-For anyone who contributes $25 or more, you will be entered $250 of beauty products.
-For anyone who contributes $100 or more, Steve Bisson, a licensed mental health and substance abuse counselor, as well as a Reiki practioner, will offer a 60 minute coaching session online.
-For anyone who gets 3 friends or more to submit a contribution, you are automatically entered in a personal shopping trip with social influencer, Alexa Curtis, to the store of your choice. Please email [email redacted] with the three names of your friends to be entered.
