I have never been one to be silent in the face of injustice - and yet I have been when it comes to Gaza.
Babies and children, women and men are dying through intentional starvation, right now, today.
And it feels easier to look away.
In a world where we accept this for others, we lose our humanity... and at some level we accept the potentiality of these outcomes for ourselves.
Remember the poem "first they came for?"....
I believe in equality, in kindness, in humanity and that we all have a responsibility to create that world that we can live in.
My community and family and friends did an epic job of supporting Ukraine four years ago when I reached out for help getting medical kits to the war zones.
It was overwhelming and incredible, and I'm still super grateful.
I'm asking once again that we can show medical support for the suffering, humanity in action, a vote for the kind of world we want to live in.
For me personally and in the infamous words of that Lizzy song - it's about damn time!
If you're standing with me, or even if you don't feel super connected to the cause but want to make me happy on my birthday.... (I'm turning 39 on Sunday 3rd August).
Please consider a donation for the Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) Gaza Appeal.
Every little counts, and no donation is too small. If you can't donate, please consider sharing this post, like or comment to show your support.
Thank you, love you guys!!
PS - I've done this as a separate GoFundMe because I want to have a target, donate direct to the MSF Gaza Appeal, and be motivated to keep going along with my community of family and friends to make a difference!
A final word from MSF, July 23rd 2025:
The restrictions, delays, and fragmentation of the territory created and imposed by the Israeli government as part of its total siege have led to chaos, famine, and death. "Children tell their parents they want to go to heaven, because at least there will be food," reported a humanitarian worker who provides psychosocial support.
Doctors are reporting record rates of acute malnutrition, particularly among children and the elderly. Disease is spreading, markets are empty, garbage is piling up, and adults are collapsing in the streets from hunger and dehydration. Distributions in Gaza are currently limited to 28 truckloads per day, far from enough for more than two million people, many of whom have already survived weeks without assistance.
Right now, our teams in Gaza are treating patients injured or affected by the conflict. This is only possible because of donations from people like you.
Your donation will support our medical work in Gaza and in current conflicts in the Middle East, including the West Bank and Lebanon.
Please donate today to support our emergency teams.
