Hello - Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Charmaine Chapman-Morehead. I hope that you are doing well as we navigate these uncertain times resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic. In April of 2020, after 18 years, I had to shutdown my corporate communications, marketing and experiential events consulting business due to the pandemic. Considering these recent developments, I launched a Go Fund Me campaign to raise funds to cover out of pocket medical expenses that are essential to managing my husband, Wayne's (AKA Rock) healthcare. Our crowdfunding goal is $15,000.
Being mindful that these are challenging times for many of us, I am only seeking contributions from those that may donate without causing themselves personal hardship. In 2014, Wayne was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. Since that time, his kidney function has deteriorated. His current diagnosis is End Stage Renal Disease with a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of 4.8 mL/min. His current condition requires that he undergo four hours of hemodialysis three times per week. Since Rock was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in 2014, we have managed a dual treatment plan that combines traditional and natural medicine. Rock and I truly believe that augmenting traditional medicine with natural, holistic therapies has been instrumental in slowing down the decrease in kidney function. So it is imperative that we maintain the natural therapies and his specialized dietary intake, while we seek a kidney donor.
Although Rock has health insurance, we incur extensive out of pocket expenses monthly for fistula maintenance surgeries and other medical specialist co-payments, maintaining natural therapies, holistic treatments, phosphorus binders and dietary needs that assist in managing his phosphorus, potassium and other critical metabolic factors. We continue to be in prayer as we seek a kidney donor. Any assistance that we receive through your kindness and generosity will help us maintain this fight against End Stage Renal Disease until my husband can receive a kidney transplant. Blessings to you all for taking time to hear our story and for your consideration. I pray that you and your loved ones stay healthy and safe.
