Growing Pains
Mechanics With A Mission originated in March of 2018 as a Christian outreach to the Chiriquí Province of Panama. This is a culmination of a five year plan Terry Bolt wrote when he was school with Youth With A Mission, and came to fruition when he and Mike Mariotti teamed up to make this dream a reality and hired Nicco Gomez as the chief mechanic. Unfortunately, Mike had to return to the States for health reasons.
We provide mechanical training and job opportunities to local young men and women in a positive environment. Our ministry exists to serve the educational and training needs of those in our community and to be an example to the government and business community as well.
We also serve many ministries in the area and ensure that their equipment is in good running order allowing them to focus on their particular ministries and not have to worry about maintaining their vehicles and equipment.
We are known in the community as the garage that does things right, and practices honesty and integrity. Many in the community have joined us in our endeavor and occasionally drop in to join us as we start with prayer and devotion in the morning or sometimes drop by with a special “dulce” or casserole for lunch.
Since opening March, 2018, we have employed four young trainees and will be adding an intern in early July and another in December.
We provide services to more than 100 cars per month. We have grown to the point that we need more space, and our current landlord has limited the number of vehicles that can be serviced at one time.
We also need to purchase a computer and software that can be used by our trainees that will provide more advanced training modules to enhance our on the job training.
We have secured a new location that has ample space, but needs to be remodeled to include a pit, a lift, and more covered car bays. We have started some building improvement on the new location but in order to move August 2nd when our lease is up on the current shop we need your support to finish.
We originally anticipated the cost to be about 11,300. However, we were surprised to hear that a generous donor who was unaware of our need made a recent contribution of $3,340. This leaves a balance of just over $8,000.
All monies received go directly to the development of this program. As a volunteer, Terry does not receive a salary, but the trainees, interns, and chief mechanic are paid positions.
Your generous support will help us to expand our program in order to provide more education and job opportunities.
