Hi, my name is Chris Antunes, and I’m raising funds to open a Chefs for Seniors franchise right here in Bakersfield, California.
From the time I was five years old, I’ve had a love for the kitchen. I grew up helping my grandparents mix ingredients, prepare family meals, and, of course, taste-test everything I could get my hands on. As I got older, that spark turned into a lifelong passion and career. I’ve worked my way through every station in the kitchen — from pizza and pasta to fine dining and healthcare food service — and today, I serve as the Executive Chef for a safety net hospital, where I oversee culinary operations for patients, staff, and guests alike. Every day, I see firsthand how powerful food can be — not just for nourishment, but for comfort, connection, and dignity.
That’s exactly why I was drawn to Chefs for Seniors. The company’s mission deeply resonates with me: to provide personalized, nutritious, home-cooked meals to seniors who might otherwise struggle to live independently. Having watched my own grandmother face health challenges that made cooking difficult, I understand how vital it is for seniors to remain in their homes — surrounded by memories, comfort, and familiarity — rather than moving into care facilities before it’s truly necessary.
I believe no one should have to leave their home simply because they struggle or can’t cook for themselves anymore. Everyone deserves the chance to age with dignity, and food can make that possible.
I’m working to bring this service to Kern County, starting in Bakersfield. My goal is to raise $18,500, which will go toward the initial franchise fee, licensing, equipment, and startup costs. This will allow me to launch the business without taking on debt — ensuring that every dollar raised directly helps me get this program off the ground and into the homes of those who need it most.
Your support will help provide more than meals; it will create moments of connection, companionship, and care for seniors who deserve to feel valued and independent. As a father of twin daughter, I also hope to show my children that serving others is one of the most meaningful ways to build a life and a community.
I believe that food brings people together — and with your help, we can bring that sense of togetherness to the seniors of Bakersfield and beyond.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting this mission. Every contribution brings us one step closer to helping local seniors stay independent, well-fed, and full of dignity.
