Hello! We are organizing to support dear chronically ill & disabled activist Thai & their partner and caregiver Pete.

This meal fund will help Thai and Pete buy foods that are safe for their chronic systemic inflammation from autoimmune conditions. They cannot leave their home during this ongoing pandemic, which comes with many additional costs. As well as meaning that Thai is barred by an ableist society from financial opportunities and access to care. Thai’s partner, Pete, is in emergency with his own health right now, so his ability to care for Thai in this regard is limited. Pete has been Thai’s full time caretaker for 9 years now and this has become unsustainable without our support. He is responsible for ordering the household's groceries, prepping and cooking 3 meals a day, and the clean up, including extensive necessary sanitation of the house for Thai's safety as they're extremely immunocompromised. This is unrealistic and taxing for two chronically ill people. Reciprocal care and interdependence is necessary for their family’s survival. In order to stay afloat, they need financial support for food prep and the bill that comes attached to it, needing to have mold-safe foods, both having mold toxicity.

These meals will sustain Thai as they grieve the loss of their dear companion, Izzy, as well as a beloved SIQ community member, Lluvia. This is a critical moment for them, their caretaker is incapacitated by chronic illness as well, while two loved ones have been lost in the past two months. This is a crushing amount of grief that can spiral Thai’s fragile health and wellbeing. Thai is a vital leader in the disability community, a revolutionary that needs to be protected. We need Thai and Pete, and they need nourishing food ♡♡♡

We are asking for help to secure funds so we can pay cooks who have expressed interest in working with Thai's restrictive diet. Having somebody who can provide them with these meals would alleviate some of the immense pressure Thai and Pete are under. This would give Pete a few more hours of the day to focus on their work that is crucial to financially support them both. These funds would help cover a cook's gas for travel, food costs, safe recyclable containers, and labor. This goal will help secure a few month's of provisions and care to keep them fed as they are unable to access financial aid.

Please don't take advantage of the situation by asking for unreasonable wages for this service.
