Meaghan's Birthday fundraiser for Haitians

Donation protected
Most of you know how much I believe in Haitians- their resilience, their hard work ethic, and the love that they have. Things are very difficult in Haiti right now with several hundred thousand displaced from their homes, and unemployment reaching an all-time high due to insecurity. Yesterday, like most days, I spoke with staff from the Haitian Education and Leadership Program (HELP), an organization I have been involved with for over 13 years. I work with HELP because I believe in their ability to make change in the lives of individual Haitians and the communities they serve. One staff member shared Michael Jackson's song, We Are the World, with a message that love will conquer, and that there is hope but (he said), they have to continue to keep their head up. This was sent while all staff (and students) are isolated within their homes while gangs battle with the police, and vigilantes, to take control of the communities they live in. This message moved me because it showed an unwavering belief that love and hope will help them through this terror. For my 43rd birthday, I hope to raise $430, half of which will go directly to HELP, and half of which I will send (through transfer) to individuals who are displaced, unemployed, and who have children to feed in this moment. Every little bit counts. Thank you for your generosity.
