We are trying to raise some extra money to help my parents while dad is in the hospital and then going through rehab.
Briefly, on December 4 dad started to have some trouble breathing. On December 7 mom took him in to the hospital where they found blood clots in his lungs. In fact, the situation was so dire that he had gone into right-sided heart failure. If nothing had been done, he would've gone into shock and died. So, given the urgency, they gave him an extremely aggressive clot buster to deal with the blood clots. And it did break up the blood clots.
Unfortunately, it also caused bleeding on the brain. So dad went into brain surgery on December 8. When he went into surgery, he did not even show base line brain function. From December 8 onward he was in the ICU. At this point we are now hoping to get him into Madonna to begin rehabilitation on December 18.
We are now facing a very long rehabilitation period with no certainty as far as results go. He may never wake up. Or he may wake up and regain most of what he has lost in terms of brain function. We just don't know.
In the meantime, he is on disability leave from work and is receiving a smaller pay check while at the same time having medical bills coming due both from this situation and from prior treatments my parents have had throughout the year. So we are doing this Go Fund Me to try and help my parents with their medical expenses as dad recovers and to hopefully help make up some of the difference in income for mom while dad is on leave.
