My father-in-law, Terry has been battling with renal failure and has been on dialysis for close to a year now. Every night he receives treatment in his own home for 8 hours a night while he sleeps. Terry is an avid hunter and golfer and his kidney disease and treatment has forced some significant changes in his life. 
Terry was placed on the National Kidney Registry upon his diagnosis, but was told that he wouldn't survive the up to 4 years that he could potentially wait for a cadaver kidney.
I'm happy to report that we just received notice that we have matches for a LIVE kidney and that his surgery is scheduled for June 25th, 2019 and we could not be happier!
Terry is a very important man in my life. Not only because he is the father of my husband of 16 years, but also because he is a very loving grandfather to my two sons. He is a wonderful 'papa' and this transplant is the miracle we have been hoping for so he can continue to be in all of our lives! 
Once Terry has surgery he will be required to stay close to the transplant hospital for 6 weeks while he recovers . The hospital is in Denver, CO which is about 70 miles away from where we live. There are some discounted boarding options available for transplant recipients, but the cost is still very high and doesn't include every day costs for food, etc. Terry and my mother-in-law, Joy are both retired and on a fixed income and any donations to his recovery would make this miracle less stressful for them.
