In 2015, my writing about my family's refugee story went viral. Facebook statistics reported a reach of 12.5 million impressions. The post was liked over 37k times and shared over 180k times. It was reported by the BBC, the Independent, and I was contacted by ITV but declined. The BBC later created a Radio 4 show, a news article, and a factual documentary. My motivation to write this book comes from 10 years of research, 4 of which were spent in Vietnam researching a side of the Vietnam War told from the view of a refugee family. My writing has been taught in schools, which I am extremely proud of, as I am a teacher in secondary education.
