Hi, my name is Marissa and dance has been my life since I was three years old. From my first ballet class, to intense contemporary training, I’ve dedicated every moment to growing as both a performer and a choreographer. Now I have the opportunity of a lifetime - I’ve been accepted into the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City!
But dance is more that just movement to me. During lockdown, my family went through an incredibly difficult period, and dance became my coping strategy, my escape and my way of processing everything. It was in those moments, when the world feels uncertain, that I realised dance wasn’t just my passion… It was my purpose.
Since then, I have been more determined than ever to make this dream a reality. This September, I have a chance to train at one of the world’s most prestigious dance schools, to train in jazz and contemporary, but I need your help to make it happen. The cost of accommodation, international travel and living expenses whilst in New York are overwhelming, and I am working hard to raise £5000 to support this dream.
Why your support matters – my goal is to travel the world as a contemporary dancer and create powerful choreography that tells stories and inspires others. I’ve been choreographing since I was eight years old, and I know this experience will shape my future. Every donation, no matter how small, brings me closer to representing young dancers from the UK on an international stage.
How you can help
- Donate – every pound gets me closer to my dream.
- Share – spread the word, it means the world to me.
- Follow my journey - I’ll be posting updates, videos and thank you messages to everyone who supports me.
This opportunity is life changing and I am beyond grateful for any support you can give. Thank you for believing in me and my dream!
