Dear Friends and family
This year I will be embarking on a challenge to cycle the length of the UK from Lands End
to John O Groats. It’s a journey of about 1300 miles (We will be taking a scenic route on
small lanes and tracks). It will take 18 days approximately 100 km per day. We are a
group of 3 women in our 60’s, no longer fit enough to attempt this without help, so we
will be using electric bikes. It is still a huge undertaking, we will be camping and cooking
each evening to keep the costs down.
I feel very lucky to have the energy and health to embark on this challenge and therefore
as part of the challenge, I am hoping to raise money for my lovely niece Claire Mc Tague,
my friend Row Davies and for research into M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). Both
Claire and Row are battling this condition which has affected their lives in every way.
Row is bed bound, whilst Claire tries to manage raising her son, between long spells
when she too is bedbound. Both need care and support from loved ones for everyday
tasks.
As so little is understood about the condition, families and friends are often left to
navigate the complex landscape of treatment and recovery on their own with very little
guidance. It is also a costly process, not only in terms of accessing care, testing and
treatments but in terms of time spent researching possible solutions.
Your generous donations will have an impact, Ill make sure of that. They’ll be used to:
1.Support Claire and Rows recovery:
Access to testing and possible treatments is expensive but makes such a difference to
quality of life.
2.Fund Research
A portion of the donations will be dedicated to essential research that aims to improve
knowledge and identify possible treatments
Thank you in advance for your support..
