Support while recovering from surgery.

Hi, my name is Kara Foley and I am raising money to support myself and my family while I am off work recovering from hip surgery. Last February, due to an unfortunate encounter with ice and dogs I had a bad fall and tore the labrum in my hip. I am fortunate in that I am a physical therapist so I have been working on recovering my strength since this time. I have been in constant pain for 8 months while continuing to go to work as a physical therapist and yoga/fitness instructor. I have been working through the pain and hiding my injury for months in order to make ends meet.

I have been given the glorious news that I will be getting surgery for my hip on January 16th 2024, however the scary part about this is that I will be off work for approximately 8 weeks and then tapering back in as tolerated. As I am self-employed I do not have any paid leave, employment insurance, or health benefits.

My husband is a grade 4 brain cancer survivor - which I am grateful for everyday - and because we invested all of our savings in his health journey over the last decade we do not have any savings to carry us through this time. Also, due to long term repercussions of his cancer he has been unable to work a regular job since his diagnosis.

I am the last person to ask for help, and pride myself on my independence. However, I have realized over the years the power of community to lift each other up and am humbly asking for support at this time.

My predicted expenses for this Go Fund Me are to help support my therapy office overhead and home bills, as well as my medical bills (pain meds/post op expenses, rehabilitation appointments).
