My name is Robbie Proudlove, I'm a singer/songwriter, but to be honest, that's completely irrelevant. The important thing to know is that we all have a duty, to make sure that the folk tales of Coronation Street, are represented in music form. Coronation Street has been providing a service to the working class masses for over 60 years, by ensuring that real life stories are told in an authentic way, that a diverse group of people can relate to.

My initial goal, was to write 69 songs about Coronation Street, as homage to the album '69 Love Songs' by the Magnetic Fields. However, 69 songs is actually a bit much and so I take my hat off to Stephin Merritt. Congratulations to him. I still believe I am capable of producing an album, with the songs that I have been performing live with for a good few years now. They not only tell the stories of the lives of those in Weatherfield (the fictional country of which Coronation Street is set) but, also relate those stories to universal themes in the real world.

As a fan of Coronation Street for as long as I can remember, it is not only nostalgic to me, but it holds the memories I had of my late dad. I would watch the show with him all the time, and it was one of the few ways that we could connect to each other, especially during challenging periods of my life. If there was something that I wanted to talk with him about, Coronation Street would act as the bridge to do so. It may sound like a joke to some people, but I know I'm not the only one, and some people may just have a different niche, mine just happens to be the greatest show in the world, and I'm proud to honour it in song.

I need your money because I do not get paid when I book time off work, and I would need about 2 weeks to record the album. I will also require someone to help me record it, and humans cost money. I also have a group of musicians who I would like to reimburse for their time. Basically, making an album costs money, shock horror, so I'm kindly asking for money to do it. It may not be as good as Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys, so please don't get your hopes up. But still, the world does need its fair share of mid-tier, indie folk, Coronation Street themed pop.
