Hello, I'm Vera Long. I am an artist, mother and teacher. I'm struggling to raise funds and hopefully awareness to battle both my own cancer and to raise awareness of all the southern Californian people (often children & mothers) affected by Cancer. I am two years into this journey after having been in a bad car accident and losing my mother. I am still underwater but not in the way I'd like to be. Been struggling. I've recently finally had the blessing & ability to return to part-time work after 18 months of surgeries and chemo, I still have months of daily radiation to go, further extensive surgeries and am wrestling with chronic pain and fatigue. My community gives me hope and my vocation as an artist and art teacher to youth enables me to empower others. I quest to find adjuvant non-drug therapies to relieve pain in my joints and to heal my belabored immune system, to rebuild my strength and mobility. With your help, I will not only heal myself but be able to be of the best service to my greater community. Funds will help with medical bills, enable me to get to my appointments which are often many hours away, to install safety measures in my home ..and basically help me to get by until I am once again at full steam and in full remission.
