Hi my name is Shannon and I'm 24 years old. I'm a CHCSW at Lincoln Hospital and moved into my first private rented property in July. Before I moved in I was informed there was issues with vandalism because the previous tenant was from Pakistan an some of the people living nearby were rather racist. I believed that as I'm a young female who is white that I would be safe from any kind of vandalism. Over the space of living here I have had fences stolen, knock a door run incidents and my windows egged what didn't bother me massively because I presumed it was just children. However, on the 29/03/25 after I finished my 12hr shift I came home to my back garden fence and gate mangled, fencing thrown around my yard and a wooden post from elsewhere thrown through my kitchen window. It took me over 3hrs to clean all the glass that has projected all over the kitchen and into my living room an as a result I didn't feel safe for the first time living here and I had to miss a work shift to guard my property and wait for the police and locksmith to secure my window.
I'm wanting to buy outdoor lights, motion sensors and security cameras that are of better quality than my doorbell camera which unfortunately didn't catch anything due to them shining a torch into the lense when passing. Security for homes that are renter friendly without drilling holes and installing wiring everywhere are expensive so I'm just tryna get some help, even if you donate £1 it can make a difference to making me feel safe again. Thank you for taking the time to donate, I know it's very wordy.
