Hi, my name is Joshua Cartwright and I'd like to attend the 168 Christian film festival in Atlanta to (hopefully) share in the receiving of up to ten awards for my short film.
But let me tell you a bit about me - and why I hope you'll support this with a donation.
I'm 52. That's relevant because we don't always discover our calling from God early - I only started screenwriting at the start of the pandemic. It gradually became clear that I was called to use my talents to spread the gospel. So, for the last three years I have entered the major Christian film competition: the 168.
You have one week - 168 hours - to write a short screenplay based on a Scripture.
Last year, my short script got into the semi-finals; this year I placed second with my script: The Conversation.
It's the tale of a detective that agrees to meet a man with information about a cold murder case. But the conversation soon swings around to the detective's life... and maybe this meeting wasn't what he expected.
An amazing producer called Bill Baber bought my script and produced it - and a few days ago I found out we have ten nominations at the 168.
This film is intended to reach those who don't really want to hear the gospel in its undiluted form.
The festival in in the middle of October in Atlanta and I would love to go. Full disclosure, I had already committed to a family holiday and bought tickets. So I don't have all the money to go. I'm simply already committed.
Now, you could rightfully say - well, tough. But I'm hoping you'll support me in networking with other Christian filmmakers - the studio that makes The Chosen is there - and I have something major written for them.
I do love the Kingdom and want to grow in sharing it through film.
If you would like to help me pay the airfare and two night's accommodation - I'd be very grateful. You can call me personally if you have any other questions.
Whatever your decision, God bless.
