Hi there! We’re Sara and Amy, the founders of Happy as a Clam Productions! We have the amazing opportunity to take our debut show Me and You and the Highland Coo to the 2025 Toronto Fringe Festival…but to do anything, we need your help! How cool would it be to say you supported us back when we started !
Fringe can be expensive, and as emerging artists, we’re relying on supporters like you (yes you!) to help make our dreams come true.
Cue: awwwwwwwwwwww
Where will your money go, you ask?
BAM!
Travel costs: approx. $5000
As an out-of-province company, we need train and gas money to get to Toronto, a place to stay, and daily living expenses while away from home.
Rehearsal space: $200
A show doesn’t just roll out of bed and become a Fringe sensation. We need to rent rehearsal space to be our very best for the festival!
Marketing costs: $200
Printing programs, flyers, laminating QR codes, website hosting services…these all cost money sadly.
Paying our artists : We believe art is work (even though it is super fun!). Living artists deserve living wages, and we believe in supporting our team through profit-sharing and honorariums. It’s just the right thing to do.
And so much more! Seriously…there are a lot of costs involved in making and bringing a show to Fringe.
But on the bright side! So many artists get their big break at Fringe! Did you know Kim’s Convenience - the hit TV show on CBC and Netflix - premiered as a play at the Toronto Fringe in 2011? We’re not promising and? Like a hipster but totally valid because you knew us before we were cool! And we’re already pretty cool, so better start supporting us soon!
What’s in it for you?
Other than bragging rights and the warm fuzzy feeling in your heart for supporting emerging artists….we have these donation tier options if you’re feeling extra generous (and we hope you are!).

About the show
Me and You and the Highland Coo follows two Canadian students, Jackie and Charlie, studying abroad in Scotland on a road trip through the Highlands to procure a highly coveted 3-foot tall Highland Cow plushie, whilst putting off some important phone calls. The pair navigate friendship, grief, change, and innocence. There is a ton of fun improv and audience participation and promises to be a fun time for everyone involved. If you believe in the power of friendship, love Scotland, and think Highland cows are the cutest kind of cow…this show is for you! And if you answered no to any of those questions, we will still accept your money.
A bit about us
Sara is a playwright and dramaturg, and former Disneyland Paris dancer, so she can totally put in a good word for you with Mickey Mouse! She fell in love with Scotland while pursuing her Masters in Playwriting and Dramaturgy at the University of Glasgow, where the bonnie wee country's magic, beauty, and kindness were evident every day. She began writing this play in Glasgow, during the best and worst time of her life, while she was waiting for bad news from family back in Canada. While being so far from home for a family crisis, Sara found comfort in her chosen family of friends, which inspired her to write this play. The opening scene debuted at PlayFull Theatre’s Scratch Night, where it was applauded for being “authentically Scottish”. This play means so much to her, and she hopes you find comfort in it too.
Amy is our producer! Amy is also a performer, writer, artist, photographer and producer. She studied Professional Theatre at John Abbott College and Producing and Screenwriting at Sheridan College. Amy is widely known for her instagram where she shares her photography. It features her many artistic and highly stylized self portraits and photoshoots she has done with various models and actors over the years. Amy has produced a handful of short films and documentaries, she has starred in a variety of theatre pieces, commercials, films and TV. Most recently The Wolves, a co-production by Imago Theatre and Geordie Theatre at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts in Montreal! Amy is also the writer, producer and star of the award-winning short film, ‘ Scrappy’, which premiered at ACTRA Montreal’s 2024 Short Film Festival, winning both the Best Short Film Award and the Audience Choice Award. Amy is incredibly passionate about the arts and storytelling. Specifically, stories centred around women and their friendships. And comedies. Amy loves a comedy! Amy is honoured to be involved with this project as it is as touching as it is hilarious.
