Update: On Dec 4th at 6:30pm I took the plunge into 27degree frigid water for the cause that is do dear to my heart in Cierva Cove, Antarctica. What an amazing and magical experience. Thank you all that have supported me so far. Reposting for another 10 days in the hopes that I can raise more money for these two amazing educational websites. Sharing the actual video of my plunge. https://youtube.com/shorts/GyGq_-ganyk?feature=share
On Nov 28th, I will be traveling to the Antarctica for an adventure of my life time. I plan to take the Ultimate Polar Plunge in coldest of the oceans to raise money for what I am most passionate about.
Breast Cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in women. They have been living in fear of this disease for a very long time. It is treatable if diagnosed early. Fear you fight with knowledge. Knowledge comes through education.
Please join me in making a difference by empowering women around the world to find out their breast density, learn their additional screening options, and take charge of their breast cancer screening so more women with breast cancer become survivors. I am manifesting a world where breast density no longer hinders the early diagnosis of breast cancer.
Please help me raise $2000 or more - to split between two of my favorite educational websites - DenseBreast-Info. Inc (a medically sourced educational website) and My Density Matters. Both are 501(c)(3) public charity groups. Donations will provide assistance for the development of educational materials and help keep their websites available and free to anyone with internet access for women and health care providers. Education is the key in making this happen.
Mammogram is not enough in finding cancers early if you have heterogeneously or extremely dense breast tissue.
Some facts:
1. 40% of women in the U.S. have dense breast tissue.
2. Women with dense breasts may be 4-6x more likely to get breast cancer.
3. 71% of breast cancers occur in dense breasts.
4. Mammo doesn’t see well thru dense breasts. Up to 50% of breast cancers may be missed in extremely dense breasts.
5. Women walking in for screening are not getting an equal exam. Thus the need for personalized care based on risk factors.
Help me make a difference by educating women to ask about their breast density and asking for essential supplemental screening. Early detection is the cure for cancer. Let's make a difference together.
I will post photos and videos upon my return on Dec 9th. Super excited to give to something I am so passionate day in and day out. And thanks in advance for supporting me.
With much gratitude,
Anju
