Assistance with Medical Bills

My name is Tammy Smith, and I am asking for your help. My best friend, Soror (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.), basketball teammate and former coach at South Carolina State College, Tonya Mackey has been undergoing some very serious health issues that is causing financial challenges. At one time Tonya was leading a very healthy and productive life until 2015 when she was diagnosed with lymphedema. Lymphedema is a build-up of lymph fluid in the fatty tissue under the skin. This disease caused her to have several blood clots and the need to be on medications to avoid clotting. There is no cure for lymphedema and therefore, she must adjust her life to live with this disease. Over the years, the lymphedema has progressed, and she has been in/out of the hospital. As a result of the countless number of medications that she must take, it has affected her kidneys and she must undergo dialysis. Tonya was recently hospitalized for over a month where she had to undergo a series of medications for an infection in her leg. While in the hospital, she was hit with devasting news……She must have her leg amputated. As a result of her medical conditions and her limited mobility, Tonya must retire from teaching. All of this came very fast and without warning. This has been extremely difficult for her, and she needs our help. Because of her medical conditions and hospitalizations, she has been facing huge financial challenges. She has incurred a large amount of medical bills.
