Cancer Treatment for Joy Snethen

Donation protected
I am raising money on behalf of my Dear Friend Joy  to help pay for Medical Costs
& personal debt.
Joy has been battling cancer for the past 17 years. In 2003 she was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Her fight has been very tough all these years as she has  endured countless treatments, blood transfusions and surgeries. She has suffered 2 near fatal allergic reactions from medications, 4 kidney stents, tumors and the cancer has spread. Joy is the strongest fighter I know and is beautiful lady. She is always willing to help others. She has fought so long & so hard and has a strong desire to live. The Medical bills have become overwhelming and this has  put a lot of stress & worry on her wondering what will happen.
I know times are tough for a lot of people right now but if you could find it in your heart to donate any amount we would be forever grateful. If you cannot donate  thoughts & prayers are welcomed too.

Joy's husband Jeff has written about Joy's struggle...

Joy & I met on Dec 2nd 1992, in June of 1994 we got married so we could share a life together, then in Sept 2003 Joy was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. She did surgery followed by 9 months of chemotherapy,Gemazar, Carboplatnin & Taxol. Less then a year later she was in heavy treatment for about 2 years. she had a break for around 6 months & then started treatment again. Soon the Gemzar damaged her veins, then later she had 2 near fatal allergic reactions to the Carboplatnin.  She was then put on Cisplatnin for several years but it began to damage her kidneys. Then she went on experimental treatment that left her functioning for about 2 hours per day. She did this for about 6 months then the cancer grew. We recognized they were giving her placebos ( the study had mentioned it )  a new doctor had her on 2 more types of chemotherapy 5 days per week when we complained about her headaches they said it was normal.

The next week after getting treatments Joy had a massive seizure caused by a brain hemorrhage caused by the type of chemotherapy. We switched doctors, she did Cyber Knife for one tumor,& conventional radiation 6 days per week for about a month but the tumor on top of her kidney & liver could not get radiation so she went back to chemotherapy. She started Alimpta & it destroyed her blood platelets causing her to have around 7 blood transfusions in 3 months & missing treatments. The cancer spread. Joy also has had 4 kidney stents, the last one sending her to the ER with over 3 liters of fluid to be removed with surgery.
The ER doctor tried to force Joy to go to Hospice creating great stress for us both. Her Oncologist cancel all of her treatments without Joy's consent. After confronting him he agreed to continue treatments for now, but said she may only have 6 months with treatments. I told him that it was her 6 months & no one else's. Joy had treatment on 10-19-20 & will continue on a weekly basis. she has been fighting this battle for 17 years & still able to fight but it's difficult. Some years we have paid as much as $6000 out of pocket, some years less. Never in 17 years without a medical bill. We have both worked hard to pay the bills, but with considerable time off work for me has caused lost wages as her willing loving caretaker. She would do the same for me.
Joy has some credit card debt & personal loans as most people do as well as on going medical bills we both pay. I have been forced to drain my 401K down to $100 to keep it open. Joy is worried about her debt as am I if she is unable to pay it. She like many people in her position is unable to be insured should something happen to her. It would be very difficult for me to pay her debts in addition to the house payment along with my own debt.
My father once told me "When someone can no longer stand then you must stand for them"    Joy is my wife & I love her & will stand for her if it's the last thing I do. I was just hoping that there may be others that would stand with her & with me. Any help would be appreciated more than I could ever put into words. Joy is the strongest person I will ever meet, but sometimes even someone with great strength needs help.
