Relief for Sarah
Sarah (Salamander) Thorsen was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. The doctor was amazed at her pain tolerance and we were sad to learn that the MM has already seriously deteriorated her bones and that there are multiple fractures all over her body, the most painful of which are on her spine in the mid-back region.
Following her first chemotherapy treatment Sarah had a "pain event," and after a very long story... that I don't have the heart to go into... she went to the ER and was in the hospital for a week.
While she was gone I (Song, her daughter) took the opportunity to have a mold specialist (with Dan Connelly's help-- thanks Dan!) come look at a black spot in her house. Unfortunately, the mold was more abundant than we expected.
The specialist said his work alone will be $10,000, and there will still be the expenses of plumbing, roofing, carpet removal, floor installation, and painting to add to the tab... And then there is the issue of her medical bills that are starting to pile up.
The doctors are optimistic that Sarah can achieve remission. Sarah is optimistic by choice and by nature, and the MM has not changed this or affected her spirits. The outpouring of love has been immense, and we so appreciate it!
If, by the nature of your relationship with my mother, you feel compelled to assist in getting her into a clean, healthy house, with her new, slightly radioactive body, we would be beyond grateful.
