Amanda Cox
My name is Georgia Cronk. First off, I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far. I originally posted this on Amanda's
birthday in late August. Amanda Cox is a beautiful young woman of 27 years old. Her life has been dramatically altered by a
horrific 'event' that occurred in the early hours of October 22 2019. Amanda was found, left for dead, at the side of the road. She was totally unrecognizable. If it were not for two young men who happened to be in the area that early morning; I do not believe
that Amanda would be with us today.
These young men called 911. Amanda was originally taken to Collingwood Hospital. Upon examination, she was immediately air
lifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. She still remains there today (almost 11 months later)
Amanda's mother, Elizabeth Cox, found out about Amanda through a family member that happened to know one of the young
men who found her. The Huronia West Police department in Wasaga beach did not even have the decency to contact the family.
Needless to say Elizabeth did not get to the hospital to be by her daughter,s side until 17 hours after the fact. She has barely left
her side since.
What happened to Amanda that night still remains a mystery. However once Amanda is "out of the woods" so to speak that will be the next task.
Amanda has TBI (traumatic brain injury) caused by a blunt force to the head. To this day she is only minimally conscious. Amanda
has suffered several strokes and infection after infection over the last 11 months. She has been on a ventilator in order to breathe.
In July Amanda was transferred to Michael Garron hospital where she was fully weaned from the ventilator. Who would have
known that learning to breath again would take that much work. This and so many things we all take for granted.
THIS IS THE PART WHERE I AM PLEADING FOR YOUR HELP.
Amanda is now back in Sunnybrook hospital. It is the family's hope to bring Amanda home with the ones who love her the most.
Having said that. THIS IS A PRETTY BIG DEAL. There are a ton of expenses that are not covered as Amanda does not meet the
requirements.
Amanda is going to need to re learn practically everything. Currently she is being fed through a peg in her stomach. she is hooked
up to machines and wires. She has had to have her right bone flap of her skull removed in order to accommodate more wires and
tubes. If all goes well, the flap will be put back prior to coming home.
The funds we are hoping to raise will assist Amanda with her "New Normal." It is still very unsure exactly what that will be.
She will require 24 hour nursing. She will need chairs bed, ramps for transportation etc. Not to mention home renovations to
accommodate ceiling lifts/hoyer lifts. The list will go on. A good portion of the funds will also go towards legal fees to find some
JUSTICE FOR AMANDA
In the meantime we will continue to pray and have faith that God will present us with a few more miracles. It has been a long
journey and i know its only just beginning. PLEASE PLEASE find it in your hearts to DONATE to Amanda,s cause. Every little bit
counts.
It is our hope that Amanda will be able to be home for Christmas!! I will send regular updates..
Thank you all for your donations....spread the word
