Hi everyone, my name is Brittney Lynn. My 24-year-old cousin Hanna Geisler was diagnosed with Leukemia in Fall 2019 after already battling ovarian cancer in 2017.
She is being treated at MD Anderson Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas.
During the coronavirus outbreak, I've wanted to do something to give back to the patients being treated at MD Anderson Children's Hospital as they are ones who are truly isolated during these times.
Many of these patients are immuno-compromised as they fight through the biggest challenge of their life. Many are not able to leave their rooms, let alone leave the floor that they are on during the coronavirus outbreak. They are not allowed any visitors unless they are under the age of 18.
These patients deserve all the support that can be provided and the pandemic has taken away the support their family can provide in the hospital and at appointments. MD Anderson needs our help to support this gap.
Nobody and especially a young adult starting off in life should have to manage the emotions and medical challenges of being diagnoses with cancer, but now the backdrop of a worldwide pandemic has created complications that were not even imaginable just months ago.
While I, as many of you probably reading this, have worked through my own emotions of what this pandemic means for me personally, I know that there are so many other people who need our help right now, which is why I'm turning my energy to focus on helping those that have challenges that most of us can’t understand.
A bit more about this campaign:
The funds raised during this campaign will go directly to the Adolescent & Young Adult program.
This program supports patients 15-29 as they battle cancer and is focused on addressing how a cancer diagnosis and treatment affects all aspects of young patients’ lives (coping, relationships, fertility, school/work life, career goals, long-term health, quality of life, etc.).
