MCW IM Residency 2020 Graduation and Orientation

Donation protected
Internal medicine residents work many hours over three years of training to become ready for independent practice.  Our residents have been and will continue to be on the frontline of the COVID19 pandemic.  Because of the economics of the pandemic, our residency program is left without funds to support two important rituals of the year:

1) Graduation for our senior residents
-Our department normally has a lovely banquet for the graduating senior residents-their parents come and a wonderful meal is served.

2) Welcome activities and food for our interns during orientation week.
-When interns arrive at their new cities after medical school, some have little money before their first paychecks.  Being able to provide even a few meals during orientation makes a real difference.

In normal years we would have internal funding for such things, but this is not a normal year.

How we plan to use money raised...
-Since a large banquet is out of the question, we will use any money we raise for gifts for our graduating seniors to help them remember their time in Milwaukee and to know that we will miss them.

-Food for the incoming interns.  We are hoping to do some boxed meals for small group orientation sessions and possibly grocery gift cards to help them get through the first month without worry about food.

Please help us support these young doctors by allowing them to remember their residency end/beginning with happiness.   They've already worked so hard.

Thank you!
