Hello,
My name is Joshua Bronson. I am 16 years old and am a junior at Inspire School of Arts and Sciences in Chico, CA. I am an engineer at heart and working hard to educate myself for a career in mechatronics engineering.
I have been invited to attend the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders in Boston, Massachusetts from June 29 through July 1, 2016. The Congress is a highly selective national educational program rewarding academically accomplished high school students seeking opportunity in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math(STEM). I have been selected to represent Inspire School of Arts and Sciences as well as the state of California at the Congress due to my academic achievement, demonstration of leadership skills, and dedication to contributing to the field of STEM.
Many influential and inspirational figures in the field of STEM will be attending the Congress and with whom I will have a chance to meet personally, including such figures as:
Buzz Aldrin- The second man to walk on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission.
Dean Kamen- Recipient of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, inventor of the Segway and the first drug infusion pump, and creator of FIRST, a worldwide robotics and technology organization.
And many more world leaders in the STEM field, deans of top universities, Nobel Prize winners, and industry-leading technologists.
In order to attend the Congress, I need to raise $3000 by April 5th. The money raised will be used to help pay for the tuition of the Congress, flight tickets to and from Boston, room and board, food, and other utilities while in Massachusetts.
I am very excited to meet Mr. Kamen because of the work he as done to help students like me to pursue their dreams in the field of STEM and far beyond. I Have been apart of FIRST, an organization of his creation, since I was nine and it has proven to be one of the single greatest experiences I have had during my life.
Upon return from the event, I will write a news release with help from Congress mentors which will help to bring publicity to both Inspire School of Arts and Sciences and myself in my academic career. The congress also gifts a Letter of Participation to its attendees that can be sent to colleges and universities to gain an extra leg up in the competition of gaining entrance to more prestigious schools and/or programs.
I am exceedingly grateful for any donation you are able to make to help me reach my goal and get me to Massachusetts. I could never have this opportunity without your help!
