As many of you know life has not been easy these past few years for Brian and Erica. Brian’s health has continued to deteriorate as he manages chronic pain in his right foot and right shoulder, resulting in being confined to a wheelchair and dealing with pain frankly that is unimaginable for most. Erica is his full time caregiver. She is his advocate. She has fought daily battles on his behalf, trying to get him the care he needs and deserves. It really shouldn’t be that hard for a disabled veteran, but they are proof that the system is flawed.
On New Years morning, Erica had to call 911 because Brian’s oxygen level was 60%. While on the way to the hospital, Brian had to be placed on the ventilator and has been on it ever since. Brian has been sedated in order to allow his body to rest. Today, Brian is being weened off of sedation. This is a very slow process but is going well.

While Brian is still on a ventilator, the usage continues to be reduced and is currently at 50%. Again, this is really good progress.
Unlike his first few days in the hospital, Brian is resting very soundly. He wakes up very little and is able to rest welll. We believe this has been very helpful in his recovery these last few days.
The doctors were unable to specifically identify the contaminate in his blood cultures, so they are retesting new cultures. There are good indications that the antibiotic is doing his job though.
Brian had a scan of his heart- that looked good. He also had a scan of his brain, those results are not back yet. This scan is to determine if there has been seizure activity. We are hopeful all is fine there as well.
Tyler will be here on Sunday for a few days to see his father.
Your thoughts and prayers have been heard and felt. Thank you. We don’t understand God’s plan, and why he continues to allow Brian and Erica to face challenges such as this, but we trust Him. Erica is a warrior. She is a protector. She is strong when she is exhausted. Please continue to pray for her mental strength as the road ahead is long. Brian will need extended medical care. Please pray for her physical strength as well.
When Brian gets home from the hospital, I will organize meals etc for them just to take that one thing off Erica’s plate. (Stay tuned for how you can help)
Finally- there are now unexpected expenses and financial constraints that are already creating additional stress. If you feel compelled to help, your donation would be humbly appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for loving our unconventional family. #sheisthecurrent #iamtheex #BRIANSTRONG
