Hi, my name is Alex. This is hard for me to do because I know many of us are struggling. Most that know me, know that Mia is my absolute world. I’ve had her for 7.5 years and there isn’t a day that has gone by where she hasn’t brought me joy, humor, and comfort. Mia and I have been through so much together, and many hard things (including COVID) have felt manageable because of her love and companionship. About two months ago, Mia started showing signs of distress when it came to eating and digestion. It has been two very long and trying months trying to figure out exactly what the cause has been. She spent the evening at an emergency clinic in early November, and it was thought it may just be acid reflux. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Mia spent another evening in the emergency vet yesterday (12/14) and after receiving an ultrasound, it appears she will need an endoscopy and possibly a biopsy to determine why her intestines are inflamed and her lymph nodes are enlarged. The vet suggested it could be inflammatory bowel disease, or cancer. We won’t have more information until her endoscopy this Saturday, 12/17. We are hopeful this will lead us onto a path of healing but it has been very hard on Mia. She’s lost over six pounds in two months and is still uninterested in eating. Any bit helps, even sharing this link would mean the world to us. Financially, after two ER visits and countless regular vet visits, we are running out of resources. Thank you so much for reading this.
With love and light,
Alex
