McKinley's Urgent Eye Surgery Fund

Hello, my name is McKinley Watson, a 45-year-old hard worker all my life. Born and raised in Mississippi. I am currently totally blind due to a retinal detachment in both of my eyes. In 2008, I awoke one morning and was unable to see out of my left eye. I was told that I had a retina detachment, and the gel behind this eye had leaked out. Emergency surgery was performed the same day; however, my vision never returned. Nonetheless, God blessed me, and I could still work for 16 years with only my right eye. In May 2024, the retina tore in my right eye, and emergency surgery was also performed. During the post-op healing process, the retina detached again, horizontally, in the center of vision/pupil. Extensive surgery, including a scleral buckle, was placed to help the retina stay in place. My post-op healing journey consisted of patiently waiting for my vision to return so I could resume work. Unfortunately, the retina is detaching again due to fluid and scar tissue from the previous surgeries.
I was referred to Boston Mass General Brigham in Massachusetts for evaluation to determine whether anything could be done to restore vision in my right eye.
I was blessed to be able to make the trip to Boston and was told that another surgery is needed to remove the scar tissue and relay the retina. This will require me to travel out of state for this surgery, putting me in a deeper financial hardship. I created this GoFundMe with high hopes to receive help so I can get the surgery that’s needed to restore vision in my right eye. I would appreciate any donations to aid in my vision recovery. Thank you and God bless you.
