Aloha Everyone, My name is Aren Worley, and I’m asking for help. I jokingly promised my partner, McKenzie Wildey, that I would not ask for help on her behalf. So I’m coming around hat in hand, asking for help for Me.. so I can help her.
Unfortunately last March, McKenzie was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in situ. A number of biopsies and scans were performed. Due to her youth as well as the size and the speed with which the worrisome lumps appeared in both breasts, she was a candidate for removal surgery. So, that’s what she’s been working on this year. We thought it was all handled.
We are currently at St Francis hospital, in Long Island NY. McKenzie had a double mastectomy and sensation saving reconstruction a few days ago. She was in the hands of a good surgical team but unfortunately one side of her body didn’t work well with the transplant. She had to go through an emergency surgery with a second round of anesthesia. It’s been rough. She is in a lot of pain and has a tough time moving around. Unfortunately with this terrifying wrinkle, we are in hospital a couple of days longer than expected. We are hoping the repair surgery will stay stable. Once we are discharged, we have found a great place to stay in Long Island. But the list of recovery equipment and transportation costs keeps growing. We also are not sure of what the new and updated hospital bill will be after an emergency stay.
This was pretty painful bump in a relatively routine procedure. We are staying in New York helping McKenzie to recover until January. If all goes well that is when we will be returning to Hawaii to finish recovery.
That’s the mission. I would be grateful for any support you can offer.
