Hello. I am Rick & Terri McKenzie's daughter, Courtney McKenzie.
I am creating this Go Fund Me account to help raise funds for my parents to basically start their life over again. Here's the story...
My parents lost their house to a fire on June 15, 2015. The fired burned everything. They lost everything. And now they pretty much have nothing. Luckily, they were not in the home when the fire happened and they were not physically hurt. Only emotionally.
My parents grew up in Quinlan, Tx and that's where they have spent most of their life. My mom went to school there, and that's where they got married.
As a family, we moved around a bit in mine and my brother's younger years... But we ventured our way back to Quinlan in 2002. I lived in this house most of my high school years, and my parents lived in this house for almost 15 years. That's the longest my parents have lived anywhere. This was their home, and this is where they harbored and kept everything they've had all these years.
I really never thought something like this would happen to MY parents. How does something like this even happen them? They lost EVERYTHING. Pictures. Mine and my brother's baby pictures. Their baby pictures. Their wedding pictures. Our ONE AND ONLY family picture from when I was 3. Family heirlooms. My dad's business. All of his files. His laptop and desktop computer. How does he even start that over so easily?
It breaks my heart. Pictures can't be replaced, but they deserve to have everything else they can to start over. These are my parents, and I'd do anything to make this less stressful for them so they can move on faster.
My parents did have insurance on the house, however, it was not enough to cover everything. Unfortunately.

**There has also been a fund account opened with American National Bank for them. I wanted to create this donation page for the people who do not live close to an ANB. There aren't many in the DFW area.
