Mckenzie is a happy, beautiful 9 month old.  At around 4 months old after her routine vaccinations, her mother Sam noticed swelling to her right thigh. As it is not unusual for a child to get a local reaction to vaccinations, it was written off as a normal vaccine reaction.

A few weeks later the swelling was still present, and becoming more noticeable. She was brought in to her pediatrician who ordered an ultrasound of the thigh to rule out a hematoma (collection of blood) as the underlying cause of the swelling.

When the ultrasound came back negative for a hematoma, McKenzie was referred to a specialist. An MRI and biopsy were performed and Sam was given the worst possible news any mother could get.

McKenzie has cancer- rhabdomyosarcoma of the right thigh. The cancer is currently located in the muscle and soft tissue of the thigh. McKenzie is going to be going for more extensive testing next week for staging of the cancer and to have a chemo port placed so she can start chemotherapy immediately.

This is obviously a very trying time for Sam, McKenzie, and her whole family. The revenue from this gofundme will go directly to Sam to help pay for all of the medical bills and other costs associated with this horrible disease.
