Assistance needed to pay for study abroad: a great 4-week TESOL program in Iquique, Chile (see additional pictures).
McKayla is studying sociology at Mississippi State University. She wants to use that degree, with advanced education, to teach sociology. She also will get an ESOL certificate to open up further job opportunities post-graduation.
Although McKayla works 7-days a week to help with her college costs (both with Work Study on campus and a weekend job at a sub shop), McKayla will still be about $60K in debt when she graduates college (yikes! But the price of education for many).
She really, REALLY wants to study abroad during the summer, but unfornately, IF she gets financial aid, it won't be awarded until the trip needs to be paid for - and it will only cover 10-20% of the trip anyway.
This is a 4-week course to get real experience. Participants will gain experience as English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers while immersing themselves in Chilean culture. Students will observe EFL courses, develop teaching materials, intern as EFL teachers, and receive 3 credit hours.
Students will live with a host family and get truly priceless worldly experience.
