My name is Tenesie Payne, and I’m Kofi’s youngest daughter. On October 6th, 2025, my beloved father, McJoseph “Kofi” Payne, passed away at the age of 58. My dad was loved by so many — known for his humor, big heart, and the way he could make anyone laugh, even on their hardest days. His presence filled every room with warmth and laughter, and his memory will continue to live on through everyone who loved him most.

He is survived by his children, Rose, Gerald, and me, Tenesie, and by his siblings Elizabeth, Abraham, George, Anthony, Evon, and Rebecca. He was the proud son of Kow Attibah Otto and Rose L. Otto, who instilled in him a deep sense of family, love, and resilience that he carried throughout his life.

Many also remember my dad from his time in Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana, where he was the proud owner of Area A Pool Room — a popular entertainment center that brought joy, laughter, and connection to countless refugees in the community. His kindness, humor, and generosity made that small space feel like home to many who had lost so much.

Although I live in Oregon, my father lived in Rhode Island, where he will be laid to rest. Our family is asking for support to help cover funeral and burial expenses so we can give him the peaceful farewell he deserves. Surrounded by love, laughter, and family.

All funds raised will go directly toward the burial costs in Rhode Island.
