McFarland Community Ice Arena Expansion
Tax deductible
In the early 1980’s a group of dedicated McFarland Youth Hockey parents had a dream to open an ice arena in McFarland. They quickly realized that to be solvent for years to come, they had to form their own organization, McFarland Hockey Inc. "MHI". For the next several years, members of the McFarland Youth Hockey Association "MYHA" and MHI worked tirelessly to raise money. Years later, a down payment from fundraising and bonding from the Village of McFarland enabled the McFarland Community Ice Arena "MCIA" to open in September 1994.
Today MCIA supports several local groups, including MYHA, Southern Wisconsin Figure Skating Club, McFarland High School and Hockey Factory, and several youth and adult groups. Ice time at MCIA is currently full and many of these groups travel to other area rinks for ice time or forgo practice times.
A new group of dedicated volunteers have been working with MHI and an area contractor to develop a conceptual plan to expand the rink to meet our user groups' current and future needs. This expansion plan includes: a training rink, workout area, extra locker room space, a new high school locker room and off-ice shooting lanes. The goal is to begin construction design this fall and break ground in the spring of 2023.
