Spring Training for Asad

Story

I have started this Gofundme account to help my friend Asad get to Spring Training. Asad is 28 years old and is one of the biggest Giants fans I have ever met. He is the ultimate Giants fan and has endured a life changing experience.  I want to make some of his wildest dreams come true. On August 12, 2013 Asad’s life changed forever. He was in front of his house fixing his motorcycle and accidentally took his foot off the clutch. The bike was in gear and he fell backwards and hit the curb with the edge of his helmet. His 5th vertebra was crushed and he fractured C1-C6. He is now a quadriplegic. Asad has a hole in his neck to breathe, a bladder catheter and feeding tube. He has been battling pressure sores and other medical complications associated with being bed ridden.Through all of this, he has remained a huge Giants fan. The Giants are his anchor to life and happiness. He continues to watch all of the games and was elated when they won their 3rd World Championship in 5 years. While in the ICU last year for two months he asked for a Giants blanket for Christmas and he could be found draped in his team colors during his stay.  Everyone knows Asad as the “Giants fan” whenever he comes in for care. He discusses stats and favorite players with all the nurses, techs and docs. His biggest wish is to meet the Giants. He says it would be his “dream come true”.  My wish is that he can go to Spring Training. He has never been and I find the atmosphere at Spring Training to be therapeutic and filled with people who truly love baseball. Given his medical condition he has unique needs in order to travel safely.  The is quite costly and won't be possible without finacial help. He needs a form of transportation where he can lie down flat. His family would need to rent an RV as he would need a vehicle that is big enough to accommodate his essential machines like oral suction, an oxygen concentrator and a wheel chair.  They will also need to bring a care giver along as transporting and caring for him is physically difficult and requires multiple adults.  Money donated will be used to get him to Spring Training (gas, food cost, RV rental costs), paying a care giver, housing his family in a hotel, and paying for admission to the ballpark.  Any financial donation you can give his family would be greatly appreciated. He is a true Giants fan.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read about Asad and GO GIANTS!!
