As you well know by now Boston has closed all of its restaurants and bars for the next three weeks (at least) leaving many of us who work in the food service industry scrambling. Some of us have had unemployment claims denied, others were counting on the spring weather bringing with it a lot of business to our bars as the winter months can be especially difficult financially for many of us. McGreevy’s employees in particular have recently had all of our busiest days of the year cancelled or postponed (St Patrick’s day concerts, Marathon Monday, and red sox opening day). Many people have asked how they can help Servers and bartenders in this unsure climate. The purpose of this account is to allow anyone who wants to donate a few dollars to help out anyone on the McGreevy’s staff. Furthermore to turn this negative situation into a positive one McGreevy’s staff will give back too. For every $50 donated a Bartender or server will donate 1 hour of their time to volunteer at a charity of their choosing. Whether it is helping at a local soup kitchen or volunteering for best buddies we want to show that if our friends are willing to extend a hand to us when we are in need we will damn sure respond in kind. Any money that is left over will be donated to the Claddagh fund, an excellent charity that we and McGreevy’s are proud to work very closely with. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to getting back to slinging the great city of Boston some much needed beverages when we get to the other side of this thing.
Thank you and we love you all,
